For some crazy reason I feel compelled to understand all facets of a process whenever I declare interest in it. 3D character building is one of those processes. For quite a few years, I have had modeling characters and objects down - not a problem. My latest pursuit is rigging characters with controls that are easily usable by others. I don't begin to have the time to highlight everything I'm doing with characters, but I'll try to put something neat here from time to time.

ArnoldArnold – 2005
Arnold is one of several characters that I modeled and am using to refine the way I do rigs - I'll put up some animated stuff for him eventually.

Hippo BoyHippo Boy – 2005
Hippo boy was created as a character to work out my workflow between Zbrush, Silo, and MAYA – which I can now say I have down. What I do with him ultimately depends on how I want my character reel to go.

Pill BoyPill Boy – 2004
Pill boy is quite literally a capsule style pill (with a shirt for some reason.) He's one of an unfinished series which I may never finish because I learned what I needed to from him, and moved on. His main purpose was to work out a rig for a very expressive limbless character

dollDolly Creeps – 1999
Once I found a creepy doll in my grandmother's attic. The site of it made my parents' cat hiss and arch its back like I had never seen. It was at that moment that I knew that I had to animate this creepy doll. First I built a stop-motion rig to do the work. After some experimentation, I decided it was better to take it to the computer. Sadly, shortly after building all of this, I had a major computer failure that wiped out the folder with this project in it. I was able to save some test renders though, which I'm showing here.

robotRobots – 1998
In 1998 I started to make some animations about a rusty, lonely robot, then I got busy with other things - they were ok for the time they were made and what I knew then... poor little crying robot. Years later I came across Rustboy possibly I blew my big chance to be at the forefront of the sad robot genere ;-)

Devil faceMr. Devil – 1998
This devil head is one of my character animation experiments. My goals were to create a head capable of speaking, and to enhance my knowledge of texture mapping complex surfaces. - mission accomplished - I got busy with paying work and never touched him again.
